Freeze Yer Buns Challenge!

I signed up for the Freeze Yer Buns Challenge 2008. I think that with our wood stoves and fireplaces and the two portable enery efficient heaters we have, I can count on lowering our thermostat by 2 degrees during the day and 5 at night. Right now it's set at 62 all the time. When I get chilly, I light a fire.

Are you up for the challenge? It will not only lower your heating costs, it greatly reduces the CO2 impact for environment!!! Even one degree makes a difference. What will you do?

  1. last year we set our thermostat to 65 degress 24-7. And in the summer we set the air to 76 or 78, I can't remember. Anyway, it cut our energy costs in half - literally! I don't know if I could do 62... maybe at night... I would definitely do it if I had a wood burning stove, but our "fireplace" is gas, so that's not much help.

  2. One way to save on energy is to join Idaho Power's A/C Cool Credit. You can learn more @ www.idahopower.com/accoolcredit. They have 22,000 customers in the program at this time with a goal of 40,000 by the end of 2009. Like the scheppers, I have an alternative-- electric fireplace which isn't much help either.
